Eight Hats: All Hands on Deck!

Eight Hats was created from a demand discovered at Pixelbrush for ongoing web help and maintenance. We knew this would be attractive to clients and agencies beyond the reach of Pixelbrush so we branded the service independently. In its infant phase, we went through quite a few name options before we finally found what we felt had the most "legs" so to speak. Eight Hats was a perfect way to describe the many roles or hats we needed to provide the best service to all of our clients. This is where the logo and branding process began. Logo Sketches & Initial Ideas:

Web support can seem like a daunting thing but we don't feel like it has to be that way. We wanted this brand to have a personality and to make our clients feel like we are a friend who is always there to help. With this in mind and a few rounds of brainstorming, we landed on the idea of an octopus as our company mascot. We thought let's make it look like the MailChimp of web support.

Logo Concept and Digital Mock-Ups:

Once we finished this round of logo concepts we felt like we found something special with the bottom left icon and even used it for the initial launch of the Eight Hats brand.

After a few months we talked it over and I felt we could push a little further and provide more of a personality so we picked up where we left off and continued the logo evolution.

What we discovered through this round of variations was that we were riding a fine line of sophisticated and child like so even though some of the options above had more of a personality we decided to move forward with the last option. It had a great mix of everything we were looking for and provided several branding options for future marketing needs.
